Canut-style Cucumbers” – A simple name for a tasty French salad.


  • 250 g of fromage blanc
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 tbsp of vinegar
  • 1 pinch of sugar
  • pepper
  • salt
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 tbsp of thick crème fraîche
  • 2 finely chopped shallots
  • 1 garlic clove (according to your taste)
  • 1 large bunch of chives


Step 1: Cut the cucumber into thin slices.

Step 2: In a salad bowl, prepare a sort of “cervelle de canut” as follows: mix the fromage blanc and the crème fraîche.

Step 3: Add the oil, vinegar, a pinch of sugar and crushed garlic. Incorporate the finely chopped shallots and very finely chopped chives. Salt and pepper to your taste.

Step 4: Mix the cucumbers and the sauce.

Step 5: To serve, decorate with chives.
